TKC PRESSROOM - APR 24,2008  CEPT Retracts Reciprocal Licenses from US Technician & General Class Operators

As of Feb08, Both Technician & General class amateurs are no longer granted any automatic operating privileges in Europe where CEPT-reciprocal operation had previously been permitted.

Let's hope the ARRL grows a pair and petitions the FCC to deny all CEPT operators access to all of our US amateur spectrum.

It's now done and buried. I would like to extend my personal HI HI to all amateurs both old and new that this is the best change to amateur radio since the fall of the Berlin wall ! For the few who believe ham radio is going to fade away they can go pound and stroke themselves fast with their bugs and brass keys !

Friday, February 23, 2007!  That's when the 5 WPM Morse code requirement will become history from Amateur Radio Service Part 97 rules. Starting February 23, applicants for General &/or Amateur Extra class license no longer have to demonstrate proficiency in Morse code.  IT'S ABOUT TIME !

TKC PRESSROOM - Jan 21,2007 League posts tentative effective date? for the code drop.

Newington believes that as long as the FCC approves WT Docket 05-235 in the Federal Register possibly on Wed,Jan 24. that the new Part 97 rules deleting Morse examination for Amateur Radio license applicants would go into effect on Friday, February 23, 2007. But you know the league's always has strings attached as they warn all amateurs regarding their statement,

 "The league cautions this date is tentative only and is pending official confirmation".

What will they predict next, Express Upgrades ??... Just don't hold your breath !

As a special New Years tribute, I would like to share with you all my personal log I made to my dear friend Carmen De Vito from 2003 who is still to this very day a strong reason that I remain active and continue paying it forward to new hams as well as more new contacts that come with a new year. Not only did I predict the end of CW as a operating requirement, but I also was correct when I said he was and still remains an ICON for all amateurs to look up to and become themselves.
